Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Hollow Woods game and this website (hollowwoodsgame.com) use, and why. Hollow Woods is made and operated by MD Jahid Hasan, Khulna, Bangladesh ("we", "us"). If you have a question, email support@hollowwoodsgame.com.

The short version

• Your game progress is saved on your device. If you create an account, it is also saved to your account so you can play on other devices.
• If you post a Daily Hunt score, your hunter name and score are shown publicly on the leaderboard.
• If you buy something, Lemon Squeezy processes the payment and shares your order details with us so we can support you.
• The browser version shows ads from Google, which uses cookies.
• We don't sell your personal information.

Information stored on your device

The game saves your progress, settings and unlocked items in your browser's local storage (and, if you install it as an app, in its offline cache). It also creates a random device ID on your device. This data stays on your device unless it is sent as described below. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for hollowwoodsgame.com.

Accounts and cloud save

Accounts are optional. If you sign in, we use Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, run by Google) to store your account and your save. We keep your email address (or your Google account's email and name if you sign in with Google), a user ID, your saved game progress, and the time it was last saved. Passwords are handled by Firebase and we never see them. If you post a Daily Hunt score, your chosen hunter name, score, kills, nights survived and level are stored and shown to all players. To delete your account and cloud save, email us from the address you signed up with.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details, name, email address and billing country under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card details. We receive the order information Lemon Squeezy provides to sellers, such as your name, email address, country, the item you bought and your license key, and we use it to deliver your items, answer support requests and handle refunds.

When you start a checkout, the game passes its random device ID to Lemon Squeezy with the order. When you redeem a license key, the key and the device ID are sent to Lemon Squeezy's license service to check that the key is valid. On the website this check passes through a small relay we run on Cloudflare Workers, which forwards the request and does not store it.

Advertising

The game shows ads served by Google AdSense, and optional rewarded videos served by AppLixir and its advertising partners. Google, AppLixir and their partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform. You can learn how Google uses this information at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and you can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings. AppLixir's practices are described in its privacy policy. Rewarded videos only play when you choose to watch one. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. Players who bought Remove Ads do not see between-hunt or banner ads.

Other services this website uses

• Netlify hosts this website and may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.
• Google Fonts provides the fonts on this website, so your browser requests them from Google's servers.
• Email. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you. Ask us and we'll delete it.

We don't use analytics trackers of our own.

Children

Hollow Woods is a horror game intended for players aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@hollowwoodsgame.com. For payment data held by Lemon Squeezy, you can also contact Lemon Squeezy directly. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

How long we keep information

We keep order and support information for as long as we need it to support your purchases and meet legal and tax obligations, and then delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced on this website.
